Introduction:

This chapter marks a pivotal moment in the Shri Guru Charitra, describing the divine birth and childhood of Shri Narasimha Saraswati Swami Maharaj (the second incarnation of Lord Dattatreya). Born as Narahari to a pious Brahmin couple in Karanja, the chapter beautifully depicts how the Lord remained silent, uttering only 'Om', until his sacred thread ceremony (Upanayana), where he instantly revealed his mastery over the four Vedas.

This English translation and transliteration of the 16th-century Marathi text, 'Shri Guru Charitra', has been meticulously rendered to preserve the spiritual essence of the original work. This specific translation is credited to Mantra Stotra Jyoti.

Conclusion:

The chapter concludes with a profound discourse on Tattva-jnana (spiritual wisdom). After demonstrating his divinity by turning iron into gold and reciting the Vedas, the young Narahari convinces his grieving mother of his divine mission. He grants her the vision of his true form and promises her that she will be blessed with four more sons before he departs for his life as a wandering ascetic (Sanyasi).

This English translation and transliteration of the 16th-century Marathi text, 'Shri Guru Charitra', has been meticulously rendered to preserve the spiritual essence of the original work. This specific translation is credited to Mantra Stotra Jyoti.
